For CHIRP, use the official portal linked by OSBI, register with a valid email address, activate the account from its confirmation email, and choose Create New Search. Supply first and last name and date of birth; Social Security number is optional. Up to three aliases are included without an extra alias fee, and gender/race may also be entered. CHIRP checks possible matches within three years either side of the supplied birth date, so a candidate is not automatically the right person.

As checked October 2, 2026, the CHIRP FAQ lists $15 per OSBI criminal-history database search, $2 for each optional DOC sex-offender or violent-offender registry search, and a $1 online convenience transaction fee. These fees are nonrefundable. OSBI separately announces that the name-based request fee becomes $20 on November 1, 2026; do not apply that future amount to an October request. Review the selected searches and transaction charge before payment.

After payment, view Search Results and watch for the result-ready email, then open and save the report. Pending means still processing. If Select Candidate appears, compare identifiers before choosing; “Select NO Candidate” does not confirm that no OSBI record exists. Request OSBI Verification when the required purpose calls for OSBI’s review. Saved portal results expire after 60 days; a new search is charged again.

For an OCPD report, follow the Records Request Form link on the Police Records & Permits page, rather than filing a new police incident report. Keep the municipal request separate from the statewide CHIRP search.

Do not substitute an Oklahoma County-only source for every Oklahoma City fact.
